Books and Music:

I'm a constant consumer of books, and with my music background, new music. Below is what I've read and listened to recently:

Michael Jordan: The Life

This was a great biography of the life thus far of Michael Jordan. Growing up around Chicago, I know a decent amount about Michael Jordan, as I was living around there when he led the Chicago Bulls to multiple titles. This was a great book to continue to be around his drive and passion for learning and growing. Obviously there's lots of crossover between competitive sports and being a trial lawyer, so I have great respect for who he is, what he has done, and what he'll continue to do.

There was a good amount about Phil Jackson, so that has led me to one of the books I'm currently reading, which is Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success, by Phil Jackson. So more on that soon.

The Perilous Fight

This was an important book for so many reasons. First, as someone who grew up in rural Illinois, I had a lot to learn about diversity and remember vividly when I first learned how and why the statement "I don't see color" regarding race issues is such a harmful statement.

Kaepernick's book and life story so far helps educate and guide on these same principles of awareness. He also connects it to the NFL which was was really eye-opening.

I also have a handful of books about diversity as it relates to age and generations, which I look forward to getting into soon.

Music:

Guitarist and musician Mark Guiliana finally released his full album BEAT MUSIC 2.0, from which he's been releasing single tunes over the past few months. I love him and this whole album. I have it on right now as I write this email in fact!

Weezer also released Weezer with a gold cover. This band keeps cranking out such high quality song writing. It's akin to the song writing of Ben Folds to me. So good.

I'm also getting started with guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela's new release OurHome.
